BABY WHALE

Baby Whale was a folk/rock group formed in Cambridge in early 1972. Nick Barraclough, leading light and resident performer at The Cambridge Folk Club (Saturday nights at The Portland Arms, Mitchams Corner, Cambridge) met his first wife to be, Anne Baker, from Pennsylvania, PA, US of A, an art student and fell in love with her Martin D28 guitar. Steve Brooks of The Toby Jug Band (if you have a copy of their electric album, then you are rich) joined Nick and Anne to form a trio which was originally called Goody Two Shoes but after a fourth member, the gifted jazz bass player, Adrian "Abe" Kendon joined the band there was a long and heated discussion about the band's name. Eventually Baby Whale was chosen.
